What is CKYC?

CKYC (Central Know Your Customer) is a centralized KYC repository maintained by CERSAI (Central Registry of Securitisation Asset Reconstruction and Security Interest of India) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It enables financial institutions to share a single verified KYC record across all regulated entities.

When a customer opens a bank account, demat account, insurance policy, or invests in mutual funds, the financial institution registers the customer's KYC with CERSAI. Subsequent institutions can then retrieve this record rather than collecting documents again — eliminating redundancy and accelerating onboarding.

Entities registered under RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, and PFRDA are mandated to perform CKYC compliance. Hridayam Soft's platform automates the entire lifecycle — search, download, upload, generation, and periodic revalidation — all in one integrated system.

CKYC Processing Methodology

Hridayam Soft's CKYC platform orchestrates the three core CKYC operations — Search, Download, and Upload — with intelligent automation, retry logic, and ML-powered decision-making at each step.

CKYC Search

The first step in any onboarding flow. Search the CKYC registry using a customer identifier — PAN, Aadhaar, CKYC Number, Voter ID, Driving License, or Date of Birth. The API returns a masked CKYC number (since Jan 2025) confirming record existence. Our system triggers multiple parallel searches from a single customer input for maximum match rates.

CKYC Download

Once a match is found, a mandatory Download request retrieves the full, unmasked CKYC record including name, father's name, address, DOB, PAN, photo, OVD list, and record dates. Download requires authentication — DOB-based, OTP-based, or biometric. If the first attempt fails, our system auto-retries with alternate parameters (DOB variants, PIN codes) to maximize success rates.

CKYC Upload

For new customers not found in the registry, our platform generates CERSAI-compliant XML files with encrypted KYC data, document images (with compression), and digital signatures. Bulk uploads are scheduled via SFTP with automated Checker approval — eliminating manual portal intervention. Probable match cases are resolved automatically using ML-based face-matching models.

Periodic Revalidation

Hridayam Soft's scheduler triggers automatic KYC revalidation at configured intervals. Unsolicited update notifications from CERSAI are captured and processed to keep your customer records current. Modification requests are raised proactively to ensure your FI code remains linked to customer CKYC numbers.
